Spotlight on Emergent Creative Arts

Within Toddler QuickSource®, we learn that "toddlers [from 18-24 months old] begin to feel rhythms and understand that they can also create a type of music with simple instruments and singing." You can reinforce early music skill development with simple songs or sounds.

One great way to start is with animal sounds. Try an activity called Quack Like a Duck, in which you initiate the sound of a duck quacking, and encourage your toddler to imitate. View the full activity, along with more recommended activity ideas at Infant and Toddler QuickSource®.

Remember, POCET™ Infant and Toddler is an invaluable, easy-to-use resource that provides comprehensive support across eight domains of emergent learning. With POCET™ Infant and Toddler, you can tailor interactions, routines, materials and activities to each child's individual needs.
