Activity Idea: I Feel Happy When...

Kindergarten QuickSource® reminds us that "Social Studies focuses on helping children become confident, caring and competent individuals. Understanding his/her contribution to family and friend situations is an important concept for the kindergarten child."

Here's an activity called I Feel Happy When... that promotes the development of healthy relationships and expressing feelings. Before you begin gather your materials: drawing paper and crayons.

Let's Get Started!

1) As part of a writing experience, ask the children to complete the following sentence, "I feel happy when..."

2) Allow the children to draw several pictures of things that would make them feel happy. According to the development of the child, encourage him/her to also include any words he/she might be able to write.
